"Pig feed" fish meal increased by 18%, and China imported more than 370000 tons from Peru
As China's pig production capacity gradually recovered, the price of pork on the market also fell rapidly. On June 14, the average market price of Sanyuan pig abroad was 14.71 yuan/kg. In May this year, the average ex factory price of lean white pork in China was only about 24 yuan/kg, a 35.7% drop over the same period last year. The price of pork dropped too much, which also attracted the attention of the agricultural sector.
On June 16, Beijing time, the National Development and Reform Commission released data pointing out that last week (June 7-11), the national average pig grain price ratio was 5.88:1, which fell below the official price stability range - below 6:1 is a "three-tier warning of excessive decline. China's relevant departments also said that it is recommended that pig farmers scientifically arrange production and stabilize the pig production capacity at a reasonable level.
It is worth mentioning that with the improvement of pig production capacity in China, the demand for pig feed in China is also increasing, and the price of pig feed at home and abroad is also rising. The price of fish meal, one of the feed varieties for pigs, is rising sharply, according to a report on the Nikkei Chinese website on June 16.
The market quotation shows that the price of high-grade fish meal produced in Peru is 1650 dollars/ton, which is 10% higher than that at the end of December 2020; Compared with the price low in July last year, the price jumped by $255, or 18%.
Peru is also an important import source of fish meal in China. According to the data released by the General Administration of Customs, from January to April this year, the scale of Peruvian fishmeal imported by China exceeded 370000 tons, more than doubling at the same time (an increase of 125.69%). Among them, the total import of Peruvian fish meal in the first four months of China accounted for 62.53%.
It is reported that fish meal can not only be used as pig feed, but also as aquatic feed. The consumption ratio of these two uses in China is 31% and 59% respectively. Since last year, China has continuously increased the import of fish meal. According to the data, 1.42 million tons of fish meal were purchased from overseas in 2020, and the import volume exceeded US $1 billion (equivalent to about 6.4 billion yuan) for the first time.
In addition to Peru, the local price of fishmeal in Japan is also soaring, which is the first increase in nearly 18 months. At present, the wholesale price of fish meal in Tokyo is 195000 yen/ton, which is 5% higher than that in April (about 10000 yen).
